What is TFC?

Therapeutic Foster Care is a temporary placement in a licensed therapeutic foster home for children/teens who have challenges in their ability to function within their own families, in school or in the community. Candidates for this level of care include children/teens who:

  • Are verbally aggressive with family members or teachers
  • Have mild self-injurious behavior
  • Are perpetual risk takers
  • Are sexual promiscuous,
  • Have suicidal thoughts

Children/teens are assigned to one- or two-parent homes. Foster parents receive special training and have access to additional support.
